What is Healthy Start?
Healthy Start is the new scheme replacing the Welfare Food Scheme. Healthy Start launches across the UK on 27 November 2006.
The scheme is designed to help pregnant women and children under four, who are in low-income families, eat healthily.
They can now get Healthy Start vouchers which can be spent on:
- liquid cow's milk (whole, semi-skimmed, skimmed)
- fresh fruit
- fresh vegetables
- infant formula milk
